1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to AcaConnect. These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the AcaConnect School Management Platform, including its web application, Android and iOS mobile applications, together with any related services. By accessing or using AcaConnect, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you should discontinue use of the platform.


2. About AcaConnect

AcaConnect is a cloud-based School Management Platform developed and operated by AcaSoft Systems Ltd, Mauritius.

AcaSoft Systems Ltd is registered with the Mauritius Data Protection Office and maintains appropriate technical and organisational measures to assist participating schools in complying with applicable data protection legislation.

The platform is designed to assist schools in managing academic, administrative and communication activities through secure online services. AcaConnect includes services for school administrators, teachers, parents and students.


3. Eligibility

AcaConnect is intended for authorised educational institutions and their authorised users. Users may include:

  • School Administrators
  • Teachers
  • Parents and Legal Guardians
  • School technical staff

Access to AcaConnect is granted only through accounts created and managed by participating schools.


4. User Accounts

Each user is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials. Users agree to:

  • Keep passwords confidential.
  • Use only their own account.
  • Notify their school immediately if they suspect unauthorised access.
  • Log out from shared or public computers.
  • Use two-step verification where available.

Schools remain responsible for creating, modifying and disabling user accounts.


5. Acceptable Use

Users agree to use AcaConnect responsibly and only for legitimate educational purposes. Users must not:

  • Attempt to access another school's information.
  • Share login credentials.
  • Attempt to bypass security controls.
  • Upload malicious software or harmful content.
  • Use the platform for unlawful purposes.
  • Interfere with the operation of the platform.
  • Copy or distribute platform software without permission.

Any misuse of the platform may result in suspension or termination of access.


6. School Responsibilities

Each participating school is responsible for:

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student, parent, and staff information.
  • Managing user accounts and access permissions.
  • Ensuring that the platform is used only by authorised users.
  • Providing accurate academic, attendance, and administrative records.
  • Informing parents and guardians regarding the school's use of AcaConnect.
  • Managing, maintaining, and safeguarding its own data, including ensuring the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and lawful use of all information entered into the platform.
  • Complying with all applicable data protection and privacy laws in relation to the collection, storage, and processing of personal data.

Schools are solely responsible for the information entered into their own AcaConnect database.


7. Platform Services

Depending on the modules subscribed to by the school, AcaConnect may include services such as:

  • Student and Parent Management
  • Attendance Management
  • Academic Reports
  • Teacher Portal
  • Parent Portal
  • Exam Timetables
  • Library Management
  • Correspondence
  • SMS Messaging
  • Push Notifications
  • Administrative Reports

Platform functionality may evolve over time as new features and improvements are introduced.


8. Intellectual Property

The AcaConnect software, website, mobile applications, branding, logos, graphics and source code remain the intellectual property of AcaSoft Systems Ltd unless otherwise stated. Participating schools retain ownership of the data that they create and manage within the platform. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the software or any intellectual property rights to users or participating schools.


9. Service Availability

AcaConnect is designed to provide reliable cloud-based services for participating schools. Whilst every reasonable effort is made to ensure continuous service, temporary interruptions may occur due to scheduled maintenance, software upgrades, security improvements or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Where practical, schools will be informed in advance of planned maintenance that may affect normal operation.


10. Updates and Improvements

AcaConnect is continuously developed and improved. From time to time we may:

  • Add new features and modules.
  • Improve existing functionality.
  • Release security updates.
  • Correct software defects.
  • Modify the appearance of the platform.

These updates are intended to improve the quality, performance and security of the platform.


11. Data Security

Protecting school information is a priority. AcaConnect uses appropriate technical and organisational measures to help safeguard information processed through the platform. These measures include, where applicable:

  • Encrypted HTTPS connections.
  • Role-based user permissions.
  • Secure authentication.
  • Two-step verification where enabled.
  • Routine backups.
  • Ongoing security improvements.

While reasonable precautions are taken, no online service can guarantee absolute security.


12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AcaConnect and AcaSoft Systems Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the platform. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Incorrect, incomplete or outdated information entered by the school or its authorised users.
  • Errors in academic, attendance, financial, behavioural or administrative records.
  • Failure by the school to verify the accuracy or integrity of data entered into the platform.
  • Internet, telecommunications or third-party service provider failures.
  • Power outages, hardware failures or device malfunctions.
  • Temporary interruption of services due to maintenance, software updates or unforeseen technical issues.
  • Loss caused by unauthorised access resulting from compromised usernames, passwords or other user credentials.
  • Loss resulting from the sharing of user accounts, passwords or login credentials.
  • Loss resulting from the school's decision to disable, not enable or not enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), where available.
  • Failure by the school to promptly disable accounts of former employees, students or other users who no longer require access.
  • Cyberattacks, malware, phishing, ransomware or other malicious activities beyond AcaConnect's reasonable control.
  • Misuse, negligent use or unauthorised use of the platform.
  • Loss arising from force majeure events including natural disasters, civil unrest, government action, pandemics or other events beyond AcaConnect's reasonable control.

Each participating school remains solely responsible for managing, maintaining and safeguarding its own data, including ensuring the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and lawful use of all information entered into the platform. The school is also responsible for managing user accounts, enforcing appropriate security measures, maintaining the confidentiality of login credentials, and enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) where available.

In no event shall the total liability of AcaConnect or AcaSoft Systems Ltd, whether arising in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, exceed the total subscription fees paid by the school during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.


13. Suspension or Termination

Access to AcaConnect may be suspended or terminated where necessary to protect the security, integrity or lawful operation of the platform. Examples include:

  • Violation of these Terms.
  • Unauthorised access attempts.
  • Fraudulent or unlawful activity.
  • Actions that threaten platform security.

Where appropriate, schools will be notified before suspension unless immediate action is necessary to protect the platform or its users.


14. Third-Party Services

Certain features of AcaConnect may rely on trusted third-party services including cloud hosting, mobile push notification services and email delivery providers. Such services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.


15. Changes to these Terms

These Terms and Conditions may be updated periodically to reflect changes in legislation, platform functionality or business practices. The latest version will always be published on the AcaConnect website. Continued use of the platform after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.


16. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Mauritius. Any dispute relating to the use of AcaConnect shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Mauritius.
